Pierre Robert’s original 1970 Volks van Micro-bus, known as “Minerva,” began her trip in San Francisco in 1981. She was impounded and then crushed by The Philadelphia Parking Authority not long afterward (they had their reasons). To commemorate his 20th anniversary with WMMR, Pierre hosted a party at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in 2001.
Minerva 2 has been plagued with engine issues since the beginning. She’s never been in tip-top form, and she’s had problems with her engine for almost her entire life. For years, she’s languished on 93.3 WMMR’s studio in Bala Cynwyd, PA.’
Preston and Steve have suggested blowing Minerva 2 up, which would’ve been a fantastic stunt, however Pierre would’ve been devastated. Without enough time, effort, or money, Minerva 2 was bound to suffer the same fate as her ancestor.
That was until CollisionMax accepted the mission of bringing Minerva 2 back to her former glory, despite the fact that it had been damaged. The operation has been dubbed “The Minerva Project.”
